Can anyone tell me whatever happened to the "smoking gun" memos "unearthed" by Brent Bozell's CNSNews and conspiracy pariah Laurie Mylorie (Captain Ed: "a blockbuster find", Little Green Nazis: "the story is true", Powerline: "a great deal of detail")? Yeah, I thought so. Cash those checks, guys, but at least make sure you're getting more than Armstrong.

I clicked through to each archived story, and found the following:

LGF: "It needs to be independently confirmed before we can fully trust the story..." [Willis actually quotes a commenter who said "the story is true]

Powerline: "The CNS account provides a great deal of detail about the documents and has links to partial translations of the documents and other material." [emphasis mine]

In other words, Willis uses selective, partial quotations (in one case from a commenter rather than from the site author) to create an extremely misleading post, then rounds it out with an unsupported payola accusation and sprinkles an insult regarding not caring about the troops on top.

I tried to comment at his site, but it seems that comments are not enabled on this post.

Hey, Oliver -- I'm not taking money from George Soros or anyone else except for my Blogads, which self-disclose. Too bad you didn't ask me before implying otherwise, but it doesn't surprise me for a half-literate buffoon who can't be bothered to read the posts to which he links.

As far as tossing Nazi references, it only shows your immaturity and historical ignorance.
