« Hospiblogging, Part 2 | Main | Michelle Malkin Takes On The Lynch-Mob Meme »
Okay, so it officially began about a half-hour ago. I spent the night here at the hospital, and believe me, that's quite a trick. I managed a little sleep while the First Mate got next to nothing. At 6 am, the nurses came in and quickly prepped her for a 7 am surgical schedule, and God bless 'em, they did it courteously and with great care. We wheeled Marcia down to pre-op, where we played the usual game of Hurry Up And Wait. 7:00 turned to 7:30, which turned to 8:00, and so on. They finally got her rolling towards the OR at 8:40 or so. She felt pretty nauseous thanks to the pre-op medications they gave her, but overall her spirits were good.
After that, I dragged myself up for a quick breakfast -- the food at the cafeteria is actually not too bad here -- and a much-needed cup of java, then got myself a month-long parking pass. (Since I stayed overnight, even with the validation I'd have to pay about $20 to get out this afternoon, and the month-long pass was only $49. I can do math, Mom!) I've settled into the lobby for the 4-6 hour wait, so we probably won't know much until mid-afternoon CT. I will get a visit for lunch from David and Margaret from Our House, our good friends from life in general and the Taxpayers League.
Of course, once they see me, they may not have much of an appetite. I look simply charming: unshaven, in the same clothes I slept in, and on about 3 hours of solid sleep. Good thing this isn't a black-tie affair.
I will be posting on the news of the day to keep myself occupied as soon as I take care of yet another spam attack by the on-line gaming industry. I'm normally fairly libertarian about these things, but this industry has absolutely no sense of ethics or courtesy, and I believe I will spend as much time opposing them as I do cleaning up their comment and trackback spam. MT-Blacklist works great, but they keep changing their URLs, thanks to domain brokers like GoDaddy, who also operate with the ethics of snakes.
Keep checking back. Once I finally drink that cup of coffee, I won't be nearly as grouchy.
